Karlobag is located at 927 m above sea level, underneath Velebit with a splendid view on the Island of Pag. Karlobag's origins can be traced back to an ancient settlement.

Being positioned under the mountains of Velebit, the small town of Karlobag with its 42 km long Riviera is remote from mass tourism. Due to this special geographical position, Karlobag offers a particular climate. In only 15 minutes by car, the climate changes from the mediterranean to the mountain climate. This natural advantage of clean and crystal clear water of the Adriatic Sea and the climatic merits provide optimal conditions for a perfect holiday in a nature paradise.

Karlobag is a considerably old settlement, having had various names throughout its history. It is named after the Austrian emperor Karl VI who declared Karlobad to an imperial, royal town. There is a number of sacral monuments in Karlobag. The most renowned are the Fort Fortia or Kava dated from the 18th century, the Capuchin Monastery with the parish church of the Holy Joseph of the year 1713, the church of the Holy Borromeo as well as the Maria church.
